The Links over 55's lifestyle community in South West Rocks opened its doors to the public on Saturday for the grand opening and display home tour.
The first stage of the new retirement village is expected to open in April, but a group of lucky locals have already had a sneak peak of what's on offer.
"We had around 120 people walk through on Saturday which was a really good turn out considering the rain," marketing manager Jesse Rodrigues said.
"We had a lot of positive feedback from the people who had a look at the display home. There were some comments on small things that could be changed, but that came down to personal taste. Most of the feedback was really good."
When The Links is finished, there will be 199 homes in the over 55's community, with a choice of three different home designs.
"Our display home is the largest floor plan we have designed, so the public really got a sense of what's on offer."
The style of the homes follows the Hampton style and the development will include a $4 million clubhouse, competition sized lawn bowls green, indoor heated swimming pool with a gym and amenities block, an outside pool, chipping and putting greens, mens shed, caravan storage and caravan charging area.
"It's really great that the community is getting on board with the development and welcoming us with open arms," Jesse said.
