Two Twenty20 rounds were scheduled to be played, but the rain forced both rounds to be cancelled. Rovers had a bye for the first round and the points accumulated moved leapfrogged them above United into first spot.
The washout marked the end of the Twenty20 period for the Premier League competition and the last seven rounds will be 40-over one day contests.
Rovers captain Ethan Dowling welcomes the return to the longer form games and is hopeful his teammates will showcase more patience.
"I am looking forward to playing 40-over games gain. It gives some of the boys more time to get going instead of panicking and trying to tee off from the first couple of balls," Dowling told the Argus.
"It gives us time to post a big score which is always pleasing when they come around."
In the lead up the finals series, Dowling intends to help the comradery grow between the players.
"I am hoping all the boys will get around each other and work as a team," Dowling said.
"Instead of relying on one bloke to do all the work. We all know what our job is and we need to make sure we do it."
Former Mid North Coast representative player Jackson Korn has uncharacteristically struggled this Premier league season but Dowling has tipped him to make a return to form in the back half of the competition.
"Jackson has said he's feeling better after the break and now that his exams and school has finished for him," Dowling said.
"He is keen to score runs and take wickets."
Dowling wants to see his players reach heights in all facets of the game and maintain a winning record.
"I want to see everyone be consistent in all areas of the game and most importantly I want to keep winning games," he said.
The Premier League competition has a break for the Australia Day long weekend and will return Saturday February 1.
Rovers will be tasked with a challenging opponent in their return to the 40-overs as they travel to take on the second placed United outfit, who are the defending champions.
Rovers will only need to win half of their games to lock up their first finals appearance in the Premier League competition.
The finals, which are knockout format, start on Saturday March 21.
