To celebrate they're having an open day with free canoeing for the community from 10am to 3pm, to say thanks for supporting the business since it began.
Come and discover the beautiful Bellinger River, paddle the estuary and creeks.
Moving to Bellingen in 1998, Daniel Freuden and Jody Newhouse saw a beautiful river not being used to its potential and decided to create a low-impact business using canoes for guided trips and hire.
They looked for a home on the Bellinger River so that they could run the business from their premises.
Bellingen Canoe Adventures began February 1, 2000 with a modest fleet of four single and three double canoes.
The business has grown each year, increasing its fleet threefold.
Customers range from local families to local and interstate schools, backpackers, vacation care centres, honeymooners, couples, families, sports clubs, army groups, Red Hatters, The Adventures Girls and many businesses across the shire.
Daniel and Jody would especially like to thank Bellingen Scouts, Bellingen Shire Council, Waterfall Way Visitor Information Centre (and nearby visitor centres including Dorrigo and Urunga), Bellingen Belfry, Vistapoint, Bidvest, Skee and the many friends who help out with an extra canoe when needed.
Also they say thank you to all the staff employed over the years, who have made the business the success it is today.
Bellingen Canoe Adventures is located at 4 Tyson St Fernmount.
