The volunteer committee of the Gladstone Markets donated $1000 to the NSW Rural Fire Service Gladstone brigade.
Volunteers Roger and Jenny Gifkins met with representatives from the Gladstone RFS to present the funding on Sunday, January 19.
"Being a not for profit organisation, the committee are keen to give back to the local community when they can," Jenny said.
"The local RFS have worked so hard over the past few months, to keep us safe along with protecting properties as best they can.
"The community is extremely grateful to them for all their hard work and this donation is a small way of saying thank you."
The Heritage Hotel of Gladstone also donated $1000 the the NSW RFS Gladstone brigade.
The money had been raised from raffles held at the pub, as well as from a patron who donated their poker machine winnings.
The RFS members were very appreciative of the donations and have several items earmarked to purchase.
