During the bushfires in November last year one resident, Marie Hopkins, was inspired to support the dedicated firefighters.
Marie, a group of residents and staff began baking slices and cakes for the RFS. The group delivered the baked goods and non-perishable items to the RFS to thank them for their hard work.
"I thought it would be nice to do something for the firies. So we started doing some cooking, they were very grateful," Marie said.
"We felt very grateful to them for their hard work during the bushfires."
The residents and staff at Bupa also raised $1000 in donations, which Bupa matched dollar for dollar.
General Manager of Bupa Kempsey Donna Farrer and residents from the home presented the cheque to the RFS on Tuesday.
"The local RFS team have done such incredible work protecting our homes and community. We just can't thank them enough. Unfortunately some other communities haven't been so lucky and our hearts go out to them," Donna said.
"Hopefully the food our residents so lovingly baked has helped boost morale and the donation will support the tireless efforts of the Kempsey RFS to keep our community safe throughout the rest of the season and beyond."
Bupa Recreational Activities Officer Anne Winwood said the residents enjoyed supporting the local RFS crews.
"The residents wanted to do something for the RFS and it was incredible to be able to hand over the $2000 cheque to the RFS at the control centre on Tuesday," she said.
"The residents really enjoyed cooking and getting involved to support the RFS."
