The pinnacle of events got underway on the first Tuesday of March, but both attempts at the second round on March 10 and 17 were washed out.
The massive downpour certainly played havoc with a course that was in tip-top condition. If all goes well, everything will resume as normal this week.
There is no doubt that Hilary Dew is anxious to get out on the course to show his opening round of 1-over par 57 was no fluke.
Naturally, he's been there at the starting box both Tuesdays since.
His primary challenger, Graeme Dyet, who is just two strokes away, will also be more than keen to prove his worth, and Peter Hatton, with his opening 60 certainly comes into calculations.
All three sit on 4-under 52 nett for the minor title.
In B-grade Bruce Morris, on 71, holds a lone stroke lead over Terry Hyland. Newest member, Steve Trott, is close behind. Ironically, all three are on equal on a 17 handicap.
Graeme Irving, with his 79 off-the-stick leads the C-grade division by a single stroke. With Neil hot on his heels, a tense struggle will assuredly develop in the final two rounds.
Coronavirus is causing the utmost concern around the world, and all precautions should be taken to prevent the spread of the virus locally.
As per the Australian Government's official announcement, please place yourself at least two arms lengths - 1.5 metres - from any good mate, whether they are a playing partner or not.
As always, visitors to our Nature's Wonderland are more than welcome to be part of the fun and frivolity at the Kempsey Golf Club.
