With the senior competitions kicking off in the afternoon, youngsters from the Miniroos Macleay Under 6's competition were some of the first sportspeople in the region to kick start local football competitions.

Kempsey Saints fielded a plethora of young talent with a total of eight sides playing.
Macleay Valley Rangers had two teams appear whilst Kempsey Hornets had one and South West Rocks three sides.
In other junior football, the Under 18's kicked off their season last week, playing at 8pm on Friday night.
Kempsey Saints lost to the Port Saints Cougars 2-0 in an away match whilst Macleay Valley Rangers were also unsuccessful with a 4-0 loss to Port Saints Bobcats.
Kempsey Saints women's U'18's lost 1-0 to Camden Haven Redbacks.
