Crime Prevention Officer Steve Cherry said the community engagement days are to encourage members of the public to speak with local police officers about any concerns they might have.
"It's really about breaking down the barriers between the police and the community," he said.
"Locals are able to ask any questions they may have about policing in their area and we're able to speak with them about the work we do."
The Crime Prevention Unit visited Crescent Head this morning and will be at Horseshoe Bay in South West Rocks from 11am to 12.30pm today.
This is the first Community Engagement Day the Mid North Coast Police District have held since COVID-19 restrictions limited interactions officers could have with the community.
"We did have the bike police out here in Crescent Head during the holidays, but COVID really did slow down our community engagement," Senior Constable Cherry said.
The majority of issues raised this morning in Crescent Head were regarding COVID-19 restrictions and the Victorian border closure.
"Apart from those questions and explaing the restrictions to the public, we've just being having general conversations with the public and encouraging them to ask questions about the policing in this area."
