Justin Siemek, allegedly armed with a firearm, walked out of a home in Euroka just after 8:30pm on May 27 2020 and was arrested without incident.
Police were called to the home just after 6.30pm following reports of a man armed with a firearm.
The occupant, a 63-year-old local man, was found fatally injured inside the home and a crime scene was established.
Police said the men were known to each other.
The case was heard by Magistrate D O'Neil.
Mr Siemek was not required to appear in court today and was instead represented by his lawyer.
The court heard a partial brief of the case has been produced, however a final autopsy report is absent.
The brief and autopsy report will now be sent from Lismore to Newcastle before the case returns to court.
The accused remains in custody and no plea has been entered.
The matter was adjourned to September 23.
