Transport for NSW Director North Region Anna Zycki said specialist noise consultants were engaged to carry out the assessment following the progressive opening to traffic of this section of the upgraded highway between December 2017 and June 2018.
"The $830 million upgrade project delivered 19.5 kilometres of dual carriageway from south of Warrell Creek to the Nambucca Heads interchange and was jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments," Ms Zycki said.
"The project included large bridges over the Nambucca River and Warrell Creek, new interchanges at Bald Hill Road and Warrell Creek, and north facing on ramps at Old Coast Road to allow safer access on and off the highway and improved access to local communities.
"Noise monitoring was carried out during May and June 2019 at identified locations along the project alignment.
"This involved placing an automated noise logger at 21 locations to continuously measure noise levels for approximately two weeks, with short-duration physical monitoring also carried out at an additional 11 locations.
"The consultants have now assessed the actual road noise levels and found they closely aligned with the predicted levels used in the project design.
"All properties that were identified during project design as requiring noise mitigation treatment have received the appropriate level of treatment, while four additional properties have been identified during the operation noise assessment as eligible for at-house treatment.
"Transport for NSW is in the process of contacting the property owners to discuss this."
