Concerns have been raised with the CPL that the event has generated enormous interest in the community and may have attracted a significant number of spectators, putting it in breach of the COVID-19 Safety Plan of the home club, Kempsey Saints.
The COVID-19 Safety Plan is a requirement of the NSW Government to enable the conduct of sport and business. It places restrictions on the number of people who can attend venues, including sports fields.
As a precaution, the CPL decided to postpone the match and the Kay Clarke Shield. It will be rescheduled to a future date, at a gated ground that can accommodate spectators.
