A correctional officer will face court today charged following an investigation into the introduction of contraband into a correctional facility on the state's Mid North Coast.

In June, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit (CSIU), commenced an investigation following reports a male correctional officer was attempting introduce contraband into the facility where he worked.
About 1.30pm on Wednesday June 10 2020, detectives attended the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre and spoke with a 32-year-old man.
Following further inquiries, the man was charged with unlawfully bring or attempt to bring anything into place of detention.
The man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Kempsey Local Court today (Monday August 17 2020).
The probationary correctional officer is currently suspended from duty.
