Crews from the local SES, RFS, Fire and Rescue and Police were able to answer any questions community members had while putting on a display for the kids.
Manager of Kempsey PCYC, Anika Vidler, said the day was all about bridging the gap between the community and emergency services.
"We held the free community and emergency services day to help the community become more familiar with our emergency services," she said.
"The community has been through a lot with the bushfires last year and this day was to showcase the resources available to locals."
Emergency service crews handed out information pamphlets, while exploring the trucks and turning on the sirens was a hit with the kids.
"The SES also demonstrated an emergency crash simulation which included using cutting tools and panel crushing tools to access trapped victims."
PCYC volunteers also put on a barbeque lunch and held raffles throughout the day.
"It was a way for the club to hold an event for the whole community and for locals to have something to do over the school holidays," Anika said.
"We wouldn't have been able to hold the event if local businesses didn't sponsor us. We do really want to thank Eversons Food Processors, Tumblegum, Woolworths and west Kempsey IGA.
"I think the community having more knowledge about our emergency responders is important and can help save lives."
