Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted at his West Kempsey home earlier this month.
About 8.30pm on Thursday, October 1, the 33-year-old man was inside his home in West Kempsey, when he heard a noise coming from the front door of the house.
When he went to investigate, three men forced their way into the home, causing the man to fall to the ground.
Police have been told the man attempted to defend himself but was overpowered and assaulted by the three men, before one of the men destroyed his mobile telephone. Three men then left the premises.
Police from Mid North Coast Police District - including detectives and forensic investigators - established a crime scene where a number of items were secured for forensic analysis.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for severe swelling and bruising to his face and an injury to his foot before he was taken to Kempsey Hospital for medical treatment and observation.
Investigators have released descriptions of three men they believe can assist with their inquiries.
The first man is described as possibly being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall, and aged about 30. He was last seen wearing a black-coloured t-shirt and khaki shorts.
The second man is also described as being of Caucasian appearance. He's reported to be in his late 20s. He was described as being larger than the first man and was wearing orange-coloured t-shirt and shorts.
The third man is described as Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall and aged in his mid-30s.
Anyone with information which could assist investigators is urged to contact Kempsey Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
