Kerin, who lives in Kempsey, is currently 16 years old and as such can't drive anywhere without Mum or Dad in the passenger seat and L plates on the front and back.
However his profession is putting his foot to the floor as part of the Hyundai X3 Circuit Racing Series.
Kerin said it's certainly different going from the track to a suburban road but he learns a trick or two from the experience.

"It's a big difference, you're going from flat out full throttle to a more conservative way of driving," Kerin told the Argus.
"It has its benefits though as I've learnt how to drive manual but sometimes you have to remind yourself you're not on the race track."
Kerin, two years ago, transitioned from racing sprint carts to Hyundai X3 and hasn't looked back since but COVID-19 has interrupted his 2020 season.
"It's been a slow year because of COVID but I've had a few practice days at Wakefield Park in Goulburn and made changes in car setup, specifically suspension, [so we've made the most of the break]," he said.
However with borders re-opening competitions are beginning to resume and Kerin has set his goals for the future.
"Hopefully we can go to Queensland in the next few weeks for one of the state title rounds - the changes went well at Goulburn," he explained.
"We're not 100% sure what future events will be going head but I'll focus on titles and big races and maybe some enduro work down at Goulburn.
"For this year and next I'm hoping to make the top 10 in Queensland and stay competitive with the front runners at competitions."
Kerin also plans to do all rounds of the NSW series with the majority of those held in Goulburn.
The NSW series continues to grow year by year with current V8 super-car drivers participating when they can.
