'The Decimator' was named the 17 years and over boys age champion - after Declan secured a swag of podium finishes in a monster campaign.
The 18-year-old won five events, and a second placing in a sixth. Just as impressive was Macksville Marlins clubmate Leah Pickvance who had three firsts, one second and a third placing.
Cohen Welsh, Bailey Pickvance and Darcy Welsh also starred for the Marlins with Top 3 finishes.
Nambucca Aquatic also caught the eye, with 13-year-old Asha Searle leading the way with six podium finishes - and showing he has a big motor to place 2nd in the punishing 200m individual medley.
Rekkii Byrne and Amos Colburn also shone for the Nambucca club.
The Area Championships were held for the first time in the north of the zone which stretches from the lower Mid North Coast to the Queensland border.
The club point score was won by Coffs Harbour with their massive swimmer numbers, but only by 500 points. Trinity Lismore came second and Alstonville was third.
The Tim Mullens Memorial was won by Angus Smyth from Alstonville who was also the fastest overall. This trophy is in memory of Tim and is for the winner of the 13 years 100 free.
The Rex Clarke Memorial Trophy was won by Alstonville who were placed first in the Mixed Open Medley Relay. This trophy is in memory of Rex for his work to swimming in the area.
Twenty-three records fell on the Sunday with a similar number on the Saturday. The notable records were in the distance events (800 and 1500).
Swimming at these championships is part of the criteria for the Area Development squads membership for next year's squad days.
