Coming into this fixture, both Rovers and Port Pirates were undefeated and battling it out for top spot.
Rovers captain Jackson Korn won the toss and sent the Pirates into bat and couldn't have asked for a better start.
Left handed fast bowler Harrison Nemme started the celebrations with two wickets to have the Pirates 2/8.
Petterson then joined in the fun with a sensational over of quick bowling.
First he removed Port's first drop batsman Dave Firkin for 1 then Evan Lipovac before bowling a delivery Rovers players described as, "the perfect hat-trick ball".
The youngster ripped in a yorker to skittle the stumps of Vaughan Lickley with Port in dire trouble at 5/29.
Former Rover Lachie Dowling was then Petterson's next victim, bowled middle stump for 14 runs with his side now 6/34.
The lower order of the Pirates then fought back to help the side reach a respectable target of 117 from 22 overs.
Petterson finished with excellent figures of 4/9 from 6 overs whilst Nemme (2/26 off 4 overs) and Lachlan Munday (2/2 off 2) were in the wickets as well.
Rovers then looked to make light work of the Pirates total and openers Brett Hutley and Jarrod Prosper got their team off to a solid start.
Mini partnerships proved crucial for the batting side with an opening stand of 44 proving the largest as Prosper departed for 27.
Mitch Korn and Hutley then kept the score moving until Korn (13) was gone at 2/73.
Hutley was out for 34 not long after but there was never much concern for the home team as they reached the total six wickets down in 27.4 overs.
