With the Christmas and New Year period over for 2020-21 the golfers at the Kempsey Golf Club have returned to the course and have found it very wet over the last two weeks.
With all wide-spread rain over the Macleay Valley there was not much sport going on.
With this the first report back after the Christmas break I would like to wish all the players and everyone a happy new year and hope your golf days are playing really good.
The club would once again like to thank Cellarbrations of West Kempsey for their sponsorship of the Month of January which has seen two weeks of play and both Saturdays were affected by the wet but there was still strong fields for the events.
Last Saturday January 9 the members and visitors were out in force for the 18 hole Medley Single Stableford event which saw a field of 79 players and some very good scores recorded on the day.
Taking out the 'A' grade on Saturday was Phil Starr with a round of 40 points and with a round of 39 points Bryn Davies was awarded the runner up spot.
Martin Nicholls continues to improve his game and with a round of 38 points was the 'B' grade winner from Malcolm Blanch with 35 points.
Taking out the 'C' grade and the best score on the day was Sebastian Brose with a very good round of 44 points.
Austin Northey with his round of 39 points was the runner up.
Winners of the ntp's at the 3rd hole were Brody Clarke 'A', Nicholls 'B', Darren De Joux 'C', Cassie Black 'L'.
The winner of the super tee ntp on the 18th hole on Saturday was Dean Greenhalgh with a very good second shot to the green.
The winners of the weekly ball competition were players with a score of 31 points on a countback and they can be collected from the pro shop at the club along with any unclaimed vouchers from the event, just check with staff at the club anytime.
After the January Monthly Medals were washed out on Saturday 2nd January they will now be held tomorrow as part of the 18 hole Single Stroke event again sponsored by Cellarbrations.
All intending players can book in now at the club or go online to book in for your round and for any upcoming events at the club.
With the new year here now the club is putting together the upcoming club program and if there is anyone out there who would like to sponsor a day please give Brad a call at the club now for more information.
