JOSH Woods has been trying to make a name for himself in the photography industry the last few years, and his hard work has recently paid off when one of his photos was selected as the background image for the new Macleay Valley Coast Visitor Centre.
Taken off the South West Rocks coast, the image will be the first thing people see when they enter the new information centre housed at the Slim Dusty Centre.
"They contacted me about a year because they wanted to use some of my photos for the new tourism website, but then they asked to use one of my shots of South West Rocks for the new tourism centre as well," Josh said.
"Most of my work to date has been for weddings, websites and canvases for clients; this is the first time something of mine will be on display in a public forum.
"I'm just chuffed they wanted to use my photos, being recognized for being skilled at my craft makes all the effort worth it."
Never far from his camera, the local photographer captured the image using a drone while on one of his many jaunts up and down the Mid North Coast.
"I take my camera equipment everywhere I go, when I'm travelling for my other job, with the family, you never know when you'll see something worth capturing on film," Josh said.
"A few years ago, I took a video of two hawks fighting a pigeon, a big old goanna at Crescent Head, and just the other day I managed to film my stack on a one wheel."
The new Macleay Valley Coast Visitor Centre opened at the end of last year, but unfortunately for Josh, he hasn't had the chance to get there and see his photo on display.
"I haven't seen it in person yet, I've seen pictures of the new visitor centre, but haven't managed to get there in person," he said.
"I'm hoping to get there sometime this year, maybe take the family and show them."
