The large-scale search was suspended on Tuesday, pending the easing of conditions to allow divers to enter the water.
"Police divers were able to search the area surrounding Laggers Point on Wednesday morning but unfortunately there was no sign of the 52-year-old," Acting Inspector Clint Smallwood told the Argus.
"A sonar device was also released from the police water vessel and it also detected no sign of the missing man."
Police will continue to patrol the area surrounding the search site but have scaled back their efforts.
"Car crews that will be in the area will continue to undertake patrols along the waterways at South West Rocks," Insp Smallwood said.
The 52-year-old man and his son were spear fishing at Laggers Point at South West Rocks on February 4 when a large wave pushed them onto rocks; the older man was swept back into the water a short time later and has not been seen since.
He was last seen wearing a blue and green full-length wetsuit with a yellow-tipped snorkel and one black flipper.
