Women across the Macleay are being invited to come together and celebrate one another during NSW Women's Week.
NSW Women's Week will run from March 8 to 14 and coincides with International Women's Day and the NSW Women of the Year Awards.
The week is a chance to support one another, share information and celebrate women's achievements.
Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey encourages women to participate in a number of Women's Week events across the region.
"NSW Women's Week provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diverse contributions of women and girls across the region," Ms Pavey said.
"It will also be a great opportunity to reflect on the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, as well as for promoting gender equality."
Three events across the region have been awarded funding by the NSW Government.
The successful applicants are:
- $3400 - Kempsey Neighbourhood Centre, Sisters Together
- $5000 - Jaanymili Bawrrungga, Multicultural Womens Wellness Day
- $3000 - Central North Coast Agricultural Society, Kempsey Showgirl Information Seminar and Competition
Kempsey Showgirl Coordinator Elizabeth Jackson said the funding will jointly fund the two-day event planned for March 13 and 14.
"We have been fortunate enough to win a grant from the Department of Communities and Justice to celebrate NSW Women's Week," she said.
"We will be holding a information day targeted for young women in their teens and early twenties. The workshop will include a number of guest speakers to talk about public speaking, interview skills, health, presentation and careers.
"The workshop is not specific to showgirls, rather it is open to any young women wanting to improve their skills as they prepare to enter the workforce."
Ms Pavey welcomed the event and said it would bring women together to celebrate and inspire each other.
"The events have been funded as part of the NSW Government's $100,000 Women's Week Grants program to promote and support women's education, employment and wellbeing," she said.
NSW Women's Week begins on March 8 and promotes gender equality while celebrating the social, cultural and political achievements of women.
