Kempsey Commonwealth Bank sets up 'Share the Dignity' collection point

The initiative is run by Australian not-for-profit organisation, Share the Dignity, which has been providing homeless and at risk women with sanitary products since early 2015.

Commonwealth Bank Kempsey Branch Manager, Lauren Pye, said staff are thrilled to be supporting the initiative.

"As an all women branch, we understand how difficult and challenging it would be to have no sanitary products when you need them," she said.

The Share the Dignity Drive calls on the public to donate pads, tampons, period underwear, incontinence pads and menstrual cups to collection points across the country.

"We are collecting any sanitary items locals want to donate, as well as other hygiene products," Lauren said.

Share the Dignity works to make a real on the ground difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough. Their work directly benefits those in crisis who are experiencing period poverty.

"The Commonwealth Bank always gets involved in drives like this and homelessness is a topic that needs to be spoken about," Lauren said.

"It would be great if the community got on board and donated some items throughout the month of March."

If you would like to donate, it's simple. Next time you're doing your shopping, keep in mind: one box for me, one box for her, then simply drop off your donation to the Commonwealth Bank Kempsey Branch on Smith St.

All donations must be brand new, sealed, in the original packaging, and must comply with Australian quality standards.
