The opening round is due to be played on the weekend of April 10 and 11. However, this now seems unlikely, Group Three chief executive Mal Drury said.
"We have a meeting on Monday night to discuss concussion protocols and all the clubs will be attending. We'll also decide then whether to put back the starting date for the competition.''
Mr Drury said grounds may not be playable by April 10 because of flooding last weekend following what had already been a wet summer.
"And with all the rain we've had this year the clubs haven't been able to train,'' Mr Drury added.
He said Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has informed the group that the Regional Stadium won't be available until at least mid-May after if was flooded last weekend. Port City and Port Macquarie Sharks both play home games there.
The clubs are due to meet at the stadium on Saturday, April 10.
Mr Drury said his preferred option would be to start the season on Saturday, May 1. The 2021 competition was to be played over 17 rounds.
He said it would be up to the clubs to decide to stay with a 17 round season or drop back to 15, so allowing the semi-finals to start on the weekend of August 28/29.
However, Mr Drury confirmed the Indigenous All Stars/Group Three All Stars games will be played at Kempsey on Saturday April 24, as per program.
Earlier this week the group announced that the season launch would be rescheduled from March 26 to Friday, April 9. Mr Drury expects this will also be discussed on Monday night.
