The 2021 Kempsey Show will now be held on September 28 and 29.
"We believe it was the right decision to postpone the show to allow for our producers to have livestock and produce that is in the best condition for display," Show Society president Stewart Witchard said.
"The postponement will mean the agriculture exhibitors will have time to recover from the floods.
"It also means the upgrades to the showground fence will be finished before the show gets underway."
Stewart said the decision was tough, but necessary.
"The decision was to either cancel the show altogether or postpone it. We wanted to still work hard to put on a show for the community so they can have an event to relax and unwind," he said.
"All of our major entertainment we had planned for the show when it was scheduled for April will still be featuring in the show in September.
"The only big change we will see will be the seasonal fruit, vegetables and flowers.
"Everyone has been very supportive and offered positive feedback when we announced the postponement, which is encouraging."
The Show Society have also been working tirelessly over the past few months to ensure the show will be a covid-safe event.
"We only found out in December that the show will be allowed to go ahead and we have worked hard to make sure the event followed covid guidelines, now we will be ensuring everything will run smoothly in September.
"Because the show didn't go ahead last year, we want to make this year's show a great event for the whole community."
The 140th annual Kempsey Show will be held on Tuesday September 28 and Wednesday September 29 at the Kempsey Showground.
