THE KEMPSEY Kookaburra RSL Day Club celebrated its 24th birthday in great style.
The original party was set down for March 19, but the river was in flood that day.
The Kookaburra Day Club has been functioning for 24 years in Kempsey. It is a social club which meets every Friday morning at the Memorial Hall at 1 York Ln.
It is for mature age people who like to get out socially and enjoy brain stimulating games, trivia, bingo and cards.
At the birthday party we had two guest speakers from Legal Aid and a guest singer, Garth Fatnowna, who entertained us with some favourite renditions.
It was a full morning including morning tea, a roast lunch capably prepared by our volunteer chef, followed by birthday cake. The cake was cut by Bev Board and Neil Elphick, long standing members of the club.
We are currently inviting new folks to join our club. All members of the community are welcome to come along and join the fun each Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm at a low cost of $6 which includes morning tea plus a two-course lunch.
We are always looking for card players, and those who don't play cards play 10 games of bingo for $5. Transportation can be arranged.
