Going above and beyond.
That's the Crescent Head Country Club way and their efforts have been acknowledged by Clubs NSW after they were announced as one of the finalists for the 2021 Clubs Community Awards.
The Club is a finalist under the COVID-19 community assistance category for their tireless efforts to ensure the Crescent Head community stayed as prosperous as possible during the pandemic.
In the lead up to COVID-19, the Club encountered various challenges.
The might of the bush-fires and an armed holdup in 2019 had an affect before the pandemic came along.
Employing over 30 locals, the Club had to close its doors in late March 2020 under the mandatory lock-down requirements in NSW.
A plan of action was put in place to keep the small town safe.
"Our project objectives were aimed at retaining the employment of as many staff as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, to provide a service of 'home delivery essentials' to various members of our community who were unable to leave their homes due to increased vulnerability," the Club said in a statement.
The project put in place was done in conjunction with FoodWorks, Crescent Head Pharmacy, Barnett's Bakery and Crescent Head Butchery with essential items collected and home delivered with the use of masks and sanitiser.
It was conducted over a 10-week period from March 23 to June 1.
These projects included:
- Easter - a surprise free delivery of an Easter hamper to the homes of all senior citizens in the community
- ANZAC Day - a free hamper delivered to the homes of all returned service personnel
- Mothers Day - a free gift hamper delivered to the homes of all senior citizen mothers and grandmothers
"We were proud of our innovative way of being able to support our community and members during the height of the pandemic and the challenging road ahead," the Club added.
"If required, we would go above and beyond again for the community."
The awards night will be held Thursday May 20 at Sydney.
