To that end the Federal Government is about to open the purse strings on another pot of cash - and there's a motza available for Kempsey, Port Macquarie-Hastings and Nambucca Valley.

Local MP Pat Conaghan said communities looking to continue their recovery will be able to apply for $280 million in grants.

He said guidelines for the remaining bushfire recovery grants are now available. Applications open on July 22 and will close on September 2.

Mr Conaghan said the grants are part of the initial $2 billion promised by the Federal Government to be spent in the first two years after the Black Summer Bushfires.

"The grants are to assist bushfire impacted communities continue their recovery," he said.

"This was always going to be a long recovery and the release of the guidelines shows that the Government is standing by those impacted communities.

"To make it easier for communities to apply for the upcoming grants, the National Recovery and Resilience Agency is offering free support including workshops and webinars."

Kempsey and Nambucca shire councils and Port Macquarie-Hastings can apply for up to $4.5 million; while Bellingen and Coffs Harbour councils can apply for up to $1.6 million.

$1.6 billion from the National Bushfire Recovery Fund has been spent and the balance remains available to support communities impacted by the 2019-20 Black Summer fires.
