The 14's Cannonballs got matters off to a great start with a 19-5 win over Port Pirates with the 16's matching suit in a dominant 50-5 victory. Lawson Moffitt, Alexander McCudden, Drew Lancaster and Dylan George were among the try-scorers.

Under 18's fixture was match of the day with both sides sharing blows.

The Pirates got out to a 21-20 lead and looked to be home before the Cannonballs were awarded a penalty after the siren.

After missing a penalty earlier, five-eight Rhys Owens backed himself to finish the job.

Owens stepped up and struck the ball directly between the posts to send the crowd and his players into raptures.

The final score 23-21 with Brady Hollis, Jordan Walsh and Braith Powick scoring.

In the women's, Port proved too strong coming away with a 29-17 win.

Reserve grade stepped on next and after 20 minutes the game was neck and neck at 14-all.

The first placed Cannons turned one on from there though to win 59-14.

First grade saw both sides exchange tries in the first half with the scores tight at the break.

Pirates then went on a roll though, coming home strong to win 45-26 to push themselves up to 3^rd on the Upper MNC Rugby ladder with Kempsey slipping to fourth.

The Cannonballs will now travel to Oxley Oval this weekend as they face Hastings Valley Vikings.
