Macleay Valley Cricket Association have set a return to play date - October 30 - with an exciting start to the season.

The October to November rounds for senior cricket will see a standalone Twenty20 competition with a final to conclude those matches.

"The draw is being finalised in the next few days, once we get a full gauge of sides that will be available," MVCA president Mark Smee said.

"In December we will start our one-day premiership, if there's some sides that can't play leading up to that month they can came in after Twenty20 competition."

Currently, people over the age of 16 will need to be vaccinated in order to play.

The maximum number of people for a COVID-19 safe outdoor public gathering is 200 people. Activity organisers must have an 'Outdoor Events' COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.

Any other outdoor gathering is permitted to have up to 50 people which includes all match participants. A COVID-19 Safety Plan is not required for this type of gathering.

"It doesn't mean that as a parent you can't watch your child play, you just have to social-distance at the ground," Mr Smee said.

"They're issues we're working with people."

Macleay's junior cricket teams have been postponed due to COVID.

Frederickton Cricket Club is also currently on the lookout for players for their first grade side.

"They've got a few players on their books but that doesn't mean they're always available," Mr Smee explained.

"If Frederickton need time to sort their roster out then they've got that opportunity, the association will continue to work with them to ensure they stay in the competition."
