Seated at their Crescent Head dining table they identified a gap in the four-wheel-drive market, putting their innovative skills to the test.
"I've been playing with cars my whole life, I grew up around them in England," Stuart said to the Argus.
"I was involved in detailing and had been painting for a while.
"Then we just kept finding the chassis rails of cars, caravans and boat trailers were just rotting from the inside out.
"We thought how can you clean it properly and then came up with this idea."
That idea is the Chassis Pro Tech.
The innovation removes corrosive salt water, sand, clay and dirt from 4x4s and trailers or caravan chassis rail and under-body. It helps slow down the effects of rust and wash away unwanted dirt, sand and road grime.
Apart from Italy made caps, all parts are made in Australia - the device is machined in Melbourne and plates made locally.
Stuart also made his own perforation machine, putting the finishing touches on a local product.
Down time during the first wave of COVID provided the catalyst to explore their options.
"When we started it was in the middle of COVID the first time around it," Stuart recounted.
"My family sat around here twiddling our thumbs and we came with up the idea.
"Everything is done in this kitchen, we pack units here and send them all over Australia.
"We've just taken a factory on in Kempsey but to be honest, we prefer doing it in here."
It's not just Stuart and his wife Sally doing the hard yards.
"Our children Ochre, George, Eleanor, Thomas and Mae help pack and stamp for us."
The move to Crescent Head came about just before COVID hit with the family experiencing the coastal and rural lifestyles throughout New South Wales.
"We lived in Mullumbimby for 15 years before heading back to Dubbo where Sal's family are," Stuart recalled.
"Then Sal woke up one night and said she'd had this amazing dream about Crescent Head.
"We went around Australia in our 13-foot caravan, came here, ended up at Point Plomer for a couple of weeks and didn't leave.
"It's an amazing town, our children are at Crescent Head Public School, they can get on their bikes and go fishing from here."
