A field of 44 contested the 18-hole event and the likes of John Daley and Peter Garty teamed up to become the nett champions after a brilliant performance that produced a 10-under 61.50 round.
Then it was Robert Baker and Graeme Dyet clinching the outright gross title for 2021 after they had returned an 81 off the stick (so to speak). The combination was a fancied chance after studying the field.
Dyet teamed up with Graham Schasser to win last year with an 85 off-the-stick.
Daley and Garty did everything proper and the two chip-ins by the latter was most probably the reason for their success. One of his no-putts-required shot came from an eagle two at the dog-legged 12th hole.
In the ball competition Mal Blanch and Greg Mayhew led the way with their 67 nett, followed by Steve Cameron-Peter Mercer (68) and Graheme Martin-John Inder (68.50).
Three on 70 nett were Kevin Hopping-Milton Riggs, Ron Ingall-Wayne Simmons and Graham Hall-John Wright.
Nearest the pin at the Alan Macdonald Memorial $100 Third Hole-in-One were Baker (A) and Robert Johnston (B), while Cameron (B) went solo at the eighth hole.
Blanch and Hall also performed chip-ins.
Being the first Tuesday of November next week's event is a 14-hole Stroke with a putting rider for the Kempsey Heights Bowling Club-sponsored Monthly Medal.
This is the last chance for Gold Medal Day qualification and a sizeable field is expected to take part. !
Hey, almost forgot, Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day and our club secretary, Chris Hudson, has been inundated by punters keen to partake in the Cup Sweeps. There is a number at varied prices available.
