Current Kempsey Shire mayor Liz Campbell is ready for another term and will re-contest the role against Leo Hauville, Andrew Evans, Ian Arthur Bain, Dean Saul, Troy Irwin and Bruce Raeburn
The nominations were made official by the NSW Electoral Commission on November 4, one month out from when local residents go to the polls.

All up, there are 23 candidates in the running for a place at the council table. Eight councillors will be elected.
The Kempsey Shire council election contenders on the NSW Electoral Commission's confirmed list of candidates are:
- GROUP A: Simon Fergusson, Joshua Freeman, Amber Piercy and Daniel Freeman.
- GROUP B: Vijay Craigie, Kevin Thorne, Mark Shanney and Leslie Freeman.

Bellingen Shire
Further north in Bellingen Shire, there are 25 candidates in the running.
Andrew Woodward, Dominic King and Stephen Allan have nominated for the mayoral role.
Six councillors will be elected.
The nominees are:
- THE GREENS: Dominic King, Jennie Fenton, Gary Fry and Toni Wright-Turner
- Stephen Glyde, Vanessa Machon and James Anderson
- Stephen Allan, Jo Brotherton, Ellie Tree, Lee Grundy, Janette Fairleigh and Steve Ryan
- LABOR: Andrew Woodward, Paul Hemphill, Paul Mulally and Danielle Matignier-Babb
- Joanne Cook, Graeme Shephard, Tabitha Vanzanten, Christopher Shirley and Philip Kennedy
- Steve Klipin, Boaz Keeda and Robin Ashley
Nambucca Valley
In the Nambucca Valley, there are 13 registered candidates and of those, two mayoral contenders.
Eight councillors will be elected.
Those contesting the mayor's job are Susan Jenvey and Rhonda Hoban.

Campaigning can now begin with iVote applications and voting, and pre-poll voting, opening on November 22.
Postal voting closes on November 29 and pre-poll voting on December 3.
Election day will be held on Saturday, December 4 between 8am and 6pm. iVote applications close at 1pm on election day.
