
THERE is one week to go for candidates to make themselves known to voters with the 2021 local government election set for Saturday, December 4.
Voters across the Mid North Coast will go to the polls to elect a new council for Kempsey, Bellingen and Nambucca.
In Kempsey there are 23 candidates in the running for a place at the Kempsey Shire council table.

Eight councillors will be elected, one person will be chosen as mayor.
Across NSW there are 128 councils and only 35 of them have popularly elected mayors.
Roads, supporting local business, economic growth, water/sewerage infrastructure, crime, population growth and jobs were among the key concerns for voters who participated in a poll conducted by the Macleay Argus earlier this month.
Early pre-poll voting for the Kempsey Shire council election is open until December 3 between 9am and 5pm.

In the order of the ballot paper the following candidates are:
Group A: Simon Fergusson, Joshua Freeman, Amber Piercy, Daniel Freeman
Group B: V Craigie, Kevin Thorne, Mark Shanney, Leslie Freeman
Alexandra Wyatt, Bruce Raeburn, Dean Saul, Byron Fegan, Andrew Evans, Troy Irwin, Liz Campbell, Mark Baxter, Sue McGinn, Kerri Riddington, Anthony Patterson, Noel Selby, Arthur Bain and Kinne Ring.
Leo Hauville is in the running for mayor only.

Bellingen Shire
Further north in Bellingen Shire, there are 25 candidates in the running.
Andrew Woodward, Dominic King and Stephen Allan have nominated for the mayoral role.
Six councillors will be elected.
The nominees are:
- THE GREENS: Dominic King, Jennie Fenton, Gary Fry and Toni Wright-Turner
- Stephen Glyde, Vanessa Machon and James Anderson
- Stephen Allan, Jo Brotherton, Ellie Tree, Lee Grundy, Janette Fairleigh and Steve Ryan
- LABOR: Andrew Woodward, Paul Hemphill, Paul Mulally and Danielle Matignier-Babb
- Joanne Cook, Graeme Shephard, Tabitha Vanzanten, Christopher Shirley and Philip Kennedy
- Steve Klipin, Boaz Keeda and Robin Ashley

Nambucca Valley
In the Nambucca Valley, there are 13 registered candidates and of those, two mayoral contenders.
Eight councillors will be elected.
Those contesting the mayor's job are Susan Jenvey and Rhonda Hoban.
