Kempsey trainer Vicki Byrnes had a day to remember securing a win in Race 2 and second in Race 1.
Race 4, the Doug Brown Memorial trophy, was the special event for the day remembering a funny, cheeky trainer who passed three years ago.
"The trophy is for dogs that have had one to two wins," race club secretary Sam Simonetta explained.
"Dougie Brown was always a guy that didn't spend too much money on his dogs and received a lot of giveaways, hence all his dogs were in that grade of one to two winners.
"He only liked racing in that grade because he thought he had a better chance - which he did - and that was Dougie Brown, that was the way he rolled.
"He had a couple of good dogs but majority were that calibre hence when he passed we all turned around and said we'd put on a race for Doug Brown with low grade dogs only.
"He left his mark on the world in that regard."
The Race was won by Urunga based trainer Ronald Ulrick with Ronny's Lass, the dog's second win in a row at Kempsey after success on November 13.
Kempsey's Albert Zarb trained Take The Lollies finished second.
Race 5, the Christmas Sprint, saw Glenidol Girl take first place, trained by Lucinda Gaffney from Wauchope.
Simonetta said it was a decent day for the roughies: "It wasn't a bad day, there was a few people around with bit of money spent - the favourites didn't win every race and that's the way it goes."
"There were no injuries today, that's the main thing."
