After the players celebrated Christmas Day on Saturday and then did the full recovery on Boxing Day (Sunday) watching the cricket test it was back to the golf course on Monday December 27th for the Kempsey Golf Club Open 18 hole Medley Single Stableford event.
Along with the locals there was a good number of visitors on holidays in the area who took on the Kempsey course which was in top condition despite the few showers during the weekend.
At the end of the days play two players who play the course very regularly were a top of the winners list and with a very good round of 38 points by both players it came down to the countback rule and getting the winners prize on the day was Robert (Feral) Baker who played well for his 18 holes in the morning and was the clubhouse leader all day.
Despite being counted out for the top position Graeme Dyet with his 38 points was the runner up after a round of 78.
With the field of 48 players in the Stableford event there was a third place prize and with 37 points on a countback the 3rd place went to Dianne Fuller from Wyong Golf Club who found the course very good.
There was a super tee competition on Monday with the winner Zachary Pritchard claiming the prize after a super 2nd shot to the 18th green.
In the weekly ball competition the winners were players with a score of 34 points on a countback and they can be collected from the pro shop at the club anytime along with any unclaimed prizes from the event.
On the day Andrew Kirkman had a eagle 3 on the par 5 14th hole.
With this Saturday being the 1st of January for 2022 there will be golf at the club for those members and visitors who want to recover from the New Years celebrations the night before.
The 18 hole Medley Single Stableford event will be held and all intending players wishing to play you can book in at the club anytime or go online to book in for your round and for more information about the upcoming events at the club please give the club a call anytime.
A reminder to all players that the Thursday Open Medley Single Stableford event is held each week with a walk up start from 7am and again you can book in at the club anytime to play or to book a golf cart for your round.
I take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year for 2022 and lots of good golfing for everyone.
