Fran was to continue serving under seven different presidents in all.
Her dedication and devotion was exemplary. Her heart was always for the sake of the Show and not what she would got from it.
Her duties consisted of preparing horse schedules and pay cards; organising sponsors for various championships in the three rings of the horse section; judges, stewards plus typing results; doing show statistics and many other activities.
Fran was always proud to represent her family and follow in the footsteps of her late grandfather James Antliffe Jeffery who was president of the Kempsey Show Society from 1929 to 1948 and her late father Jack Clifford Jeffery who was president from 1961 to 1973, making them the longest and second longest serving presidents respectfully.
James’ two older brothers Albert and George were also on the Show Society committee in its earlier days.
Kempsey Show is one of the oldest business establishments on the Macleay Valley.
In the past, it was the main event of the year and many folk used it as an opportunity to get a new outfit.
Although, Fran resigned last November, she still has a heart for the show to continue into the future and is very encouraged by the number of folk who attended the 2018 AGM and trust the show will continue to be successful as the committee members all work together as a team.
