Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, Oxley MP Melinda Pavey, was a special guest at Kempsey United Hospital Auxiliary and Pink Ladies’ annual general meeting where it was revealed the volunteers had donated a massive $32,091 in equipment to Kempsey District Hospital over the past year.

The donation was made even more remarkable by the UHA branch having just 20 members, most of whom are Pink Ladies who volunteer their time in support of patients and staff at the hospital.
The donated equipment included mobility aids, blanket warmers, a fridge and fans.
Ms Pavey, along with hospital executives Mary McNamara and Michael Fowler, expressed gratitude for the work of the volunteers.
“From the bottom of my heart, I thank you on behalf of this marvellous community,” Ms Pavey said.
The meeting was also an opportunity to present service awards to Ruth Woodward (25 years’ service), Aileen Lewthwaite (15 years’ service) and Narelle Magann (10 years).
The 2018-19 executive team includes president Aileen Lewthwaite, first vice-president Pat Major, second vice-president Denise Kelly, secretary Helen Counihan and treasurer Ruth Woodward.
Also attending the AGM was the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW North Eastern Regional representative Dee Hunter.
“Thank you for all the hard work you do,” Ms Hunter said.
“It is simply astounding that such a small membership can donate more than $32,000 in equipment to their local public hospital. It’s an amazing effort.”
