The two occupants of the home were woken by the sound of smashing glass at around 10pm.
They observed two males enter the rear of the property through the glass door panel.
The occupants attempted to deter the perpetrators but were unsuccessful and the unknown persons fled with a stolen handbag and wallet.
The men are described as being 183cm and 170cm tall, medium build and wearing black hoodies.
The owner of the property who wishes to remain anonymous believes there needs to be more police present in the village.
“We know the police are on demand and they do a great job, but Crescent Head needs more police and even a police station. We used to have one and it worked really well at holiday time.”
Police are currently investigating and urge anyone who saw someone matching this description or acting suspicious to contact Kempsey Police on 6561-6199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
