The event is one of the most prestigious on the national calendar and attracts the very best of the sports riders from the local area and interstate as they battle it out to win their share in over $7,000 in prizemoney and the most Iconic prize on offer in Dirt Track racing, the Akubra Hat.
The event covers the full range of Junior and Senior Classes from the 50cc Demonstration Class, through to the Pro 450 and Akubra Classic Solo and Sidecar events making it one of the only national meetings combining both senior and juniors racers in full competition events.
The host club will be well represented in all classes at the event with 2018 NSW Champions Jarryd Oram and Sam Davies set to contest the event along with James Chapman, Alec Hurst and club vice-president and seven-time winner of the Hat Michael booth ready to take the fight to all challengers including the current Australian Champion Michael Kirkness, former Word Superbike word champion Troy Bayliss and multiple event winner Marty McNamara.
With plenty of quality riders, it’s set to be a tight finish to the race.
Macleay District Motorcycle Club president Trent O’Donnell is hopeful the event will run smoothly on Sunday.
“Unfortunatly the weather got the better of us back in August, however the new date has provided the opportunity of a larger field of riders and allowed former World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss to compete and try to win himself the ever-allusive Akubra Hat he has been chasing for his trophy cabinet,” O’Donnell said.
“A huge thanks needs to go to Akubra, DGI Trading and all our sponsors for making this great event possible and to the many club members that dedicate their time to maintain our club and our wonderful facility.”
Racing will start from 10am with entry $10 and free for anyone under 12.
The club will have full canteen running so why not grab a spot on the hill and enjoy some of the best racing the sport has to offer.
