Firstly, we are picking the Macleay Valley Mustangs to have a bounce back year and reach the finals. 2018 was a horror year for the club as they were forced to withdraw from the senior grades but there have been a lot of positive signs for next season for the Mustangs.
Second, we expect the Rangers to go back-to-back in the Premier League. The Rangers will be without at least two of their starting 11 from last season but the side will still boast a lot of youth, talent and experience.
Third, we have faith in the Rovers to maintain their current momentum in the Premier League and reach the finals series. The Rovers had a slot start to the year but are on a two game winning streak and the finals are in their sights.
Fourth, we are backing the Magpies women’s rugby league side to take their success from the 9s format and have a similar impact in the 13-a-side game. The Magpies recently claimed the premiership in the Group 3/Hastings League 9s competition, after they finished the season on an eight game undefeated streak. The Magpies also had four players selected into the Group 3 representative team. We are backing them to claim the premiership in the 13-a-side format.
Fifth, the Kempsey Saints Premier League side to win a finals game. The Saints are yet to win a first grade finals match since the side was formed. The Saints have reached the finals four times and on every occasion they were eliminated in the first week. However, on the back of an improved season, we are predicting them to take the extra step.
