Coaching Coordinator Matt Baker has completed the appointment of the senior coaching staff and is beginning the process of engaging coaches for all Saints junior teams.
The senior coaching staff is largely unchanged from last year with Baker, who provided support in training for the entire premier league squad last year, taking over from Alex Breckell on the sidelines of reserve grade this year and Kevin Sinclair taking on first grade again.
Northern Men’s will see Luke Flanagan and James Brady return with Brett Sutherland available if required.
Woman’s Northern League will, once again, be coached by Amy O’Brien, who also returns to the field this year after being part of Saints’ player production program in 2018.
The senior pre-season starts this coming Tuesday February 5, 6pm at Eden St.
This year will be the same six-week format as last year with all male and female Saints and intending Saints players from 15-years and over welcome to attend and train as one squad.
Saints will rely heavily on its juniors to help out on Saturday afternoons in all senior grades and takes pride in how many of Saints players are now stepping up to play several games each weekend.
Junior registration days are at the West Kempsey Hotel restaurant and are on Saturday February 9 and 16 at 10.30am and Wednesday February 13 and 20 from 4.30pm.
Saints strives to continue its philosophy of being non-elitist and always tries to get as many players on the park as possible.
The club is fielding multiple teams in most age groups to enable as many kids as possible to get a game.
The committee asks all players to attend a registration day to make it easier to complete team placement and ordering the playing strip.
Saints will also run their annual under-6s clinic on Wednesday February 6, 13 and 20.
This is for any youngsters that may want to have a training session before signing up.
Saints has much planned for 2019 with coaching coordinator Matt Baker looking at holding another coach-the-coach day which was very popular last year.
This season will also see the return of the Saints junior clinics where all players from the 8s to 14s will be able to attend a skills clinic which will target individual skills and ensure all players get access to the best coaching the club can provide.
