The goal shooter received three of the four awards on offer; the Fan's Player, Players' Player and Coaches Award for her tremendous first season at Team Bath.

Commane felt privileged to receive the recognition but admitted she was a little lost for words.

"I felt extremely honoured, chuffed and completely embarrassed all at the same time," Commane told the Argus.

"Anyone who knows me well enough, knows I hate being singled out and hate public speaking at the best of times, so naturally I was mortified.

"Two of these awards came from my peers and coaches, so it means a lot that my team mates think I am alright. In all honesty, I didn't think I would stand a chance because my teammates are all such great players and I didn't think I had that much of an impact."

The humble Commane believed her teammates were more worthy of the award.

"I thought Serena or Ebs would get Fan's Player due to being absolute legends and both have huge fan bases over here and back in Australia," she said.

"So it just goes to show I have a lot of support coming from home but Bath fans have also taken me in too, which I am very thankful for.

"The coaches award also took me by surprise. We have a fantastic leadership group here and I hands down thought one of them would take it home - I would have put money on Rach Shaw to win, she goes above and beyond for the team so to think that the coaches thought I was up there is incredible."

Out of the three awards, the Players' Player meant the most to Commane, as her teammates voted for her as the standout player within the team.

"For me, Players' Player is the ultimate award," Commane said.

"I spent day in, day out, with these incredible ladies and for them to think that I deserve this award, to me is mind blowing.

"These girls are hard working - on and off the court - brilliant, inspiring leaders and absolute legends so for a girl from Freddo to win this award goes to show anyone from anywhere can do anything they want.

"To win three out of the four awards is a testament to my parents, Ruth and Graeme Borger, my siblings, Jamie Amanda and Terri-Anne, my family and friends."

Commane played a key role in Team Bath securing a third place finish at the end of the regular season but unfortunately the side suffered a 57-54 defeat to Manchester Thunder in the semi-final.

The defeat left the 30-year-old experiencing a range of emotions.

"Our loss in the semi was heartbreaking, sickening and gut wrenching all rolled up into one bit of emotion," Commane said.

"We had beaten Manchester Thunder twice leading into the semi, but all credit to them as they did their homework on us.

"We started strong but Thunder came back at us hard. A few errors from us resulted in them gaining an eight-goal lead. We fought so hard to crawl it back to a two goal deficit but we ran out of time and fighting so hard to get back really took its toll."

While Commane was disappointed the season came to an end one week before a grand final appearance, the Macleay Netball junior was grateful for the experience.

"Having time to now reflect on the season, I can see just how far we have come. We had to fight through the entire season which lead us to grow as people and as a team," Commane said.

"We had people write us off at the start of the season, so to get into the semis shows them that we are to be taken seriously."

Commane's next step in her career hasn't been determined but she is open to the idea of remaining in Bath for another season.

"My husband Jarrett and I have really enjoyed our time here in Bath. It's truly a beautiful place with so much history and culture," Commane said.

"We are so close to Europe and we are heading on a holiday to Italy on Friday, so ideally we would love to stay again but only time will tell."
