The Casting Call procedure takes the candidates through a multi-stage process, giving them the chance to show the best of their leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills. A system which Majestic Cinemas CEO Kieren Dell says helps candidates feel at ease during the hiring process.
"For a lot of young people we employ, we are their first job so a one on one interview can be very daunting. Our Casting Call process aims to remove that stress, enable them to relax, be themselves, and in the end gain a little confidence from the day," he said.
Over 500 applications were received for the various positions available, from cinema ushers to senior management. The successful applicants are expected to start work later this year.
"We were overjoyed with such an enormous response to the various positions available and thrilled now to be welcoming the successful applicants to our Majestic family," Mr Dell said.
Kempsey Shire Council mayor Liz Campbell stopped by to look in on the event and was elated with the depth of candidates in the room.
"It was such an encouraging experience for all involved. To see the future of Kempsey applying for their first job, to our experienced locals presenting their invaluable and varied skills makes me excited for what's to come," she said.
Construction is still ongoing, but the Kempsey Cinema in Kempsey Central is set to open in time for this Summer's biggest blockbusters including Frozen 2, Jumanji: The Next Level and Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker.
