The Kempsey Flying Club is to be commended for hosting this event.
This is exactly the type of general aviation activity that SKAAG Inc has been advocating for since 2017 and is exactly the type of activity Kempsey Airport should be used for, rather than high intensity, low level repetitive circuit training.
Like the 2016 Air Show, residents in the vicinity of the airport enjoyed exciting aerobatic displays which more than made up for any short-term noise impacts.
This event took place over one weekend in the year and at altitudes well above 2500 feet.
This is a far cry from the sub-500 feet altitudes flown directly above people's homes everyday for hours on end during circuit training operations by AIAC.
The weekend event undoubtedly delivered some real economic benefits for Kempsey.
The five aircraft involved in competitive aerobatics and other recreational aircraft were parked at Kempsey Airport with owners and their families obtaining accommodation and meals in Kempsey.
The word is that those involved were most impressed with the facilities made available at the airport, the hospitality shown by the Kempsey Flying Club and the Kempsey community in general.
This bodes well for repeat recreational visits and word of mouth promotion of the Macleay Valley as a tourism destination.
