The crowd enjoyed a barbecue breakfast hosted by the Crescent Head Lions Club, with the Citizen of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year announced during the event.
Jo watts from the Crescent Head Lions Club said the presentation was held earlier this year.
"We had to tie in with the Kempsey Australia Day Ceremony this year, so we held our presentations an hour earlier," she said.
"The Lions Club would like to thank all of the volunteers for helping with the barbecue breakfast and to the wonderful people who came out to celebrate with us."
The 2020 Crescent Head Australia Day Award winners are:
Citizen of the Year - Renee Marchment
Renee, along with her husband Mason and daughter Shae-ala, run the Crescent Head pool. Renee has also worked at Crescent Head Public School for a number of years.
Renee was 24 when she was diagnosed with melanoma, she won the fight against melanoma with the support of family and friends and her will to live.
On January 4 2020, she organised a twelve hour swim to raise money and awareness for melanoma. The swim raised $15,000.
"Renee was chosen for our Citizen of the Year because of all the work she has done with melanoma research and funding. She just does so much in our community and really deserved the award this year," Jo said.
Young Achiever of the year - Isabella Williams
Isabella was the 2019 Crescent Head Public School Captain. She has been recognised in different academic, sporting, visual arts and performing arts over the past year.
She was awarded first prize at the Wauchope Arts and Crescent Head Festivals, has represented Crescent Head as Captain of the NRL Girls 7s Team which were regional champions and came third overall in NSW in 2019.
She sang solo parts at the Macleay music Festival both in the Crescent Head item and the combined schools massed choir, has performed her own compositions at school events and assemblies.
She won the Leadership Contribution award at the 2019 Crescent Head Public School presentation assembly and is moving on to high school where she has been accepted into Aurora College, a distance learning program for gifted and talented students.
Sportsperson of the Year - Tom Moffitt
Tom represented the Macleay and the lower North Coast in swimming, athletics, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Touch Football last year.
He represented Crescent Head Public School as the captain at the under 10s NSWRL Finals carnival where they won two of their three games, narrowly missing a spot in the finals.
He competed at the state carnival for the past two consecutive years and competed in 2019 in both discus and shot put.
Sportsperson of the Year - Zylas Bunting
Zylas is a 16-year-old crescent Head local who has a goal to become a full-time professional motorsport racer.
He has been asked to ride in the Kawasaki Racing Team and will be competing in the Australian Supersport 300 Championship.
