Twelve months ago, Member for Oxley and former NSW Minister for Roads, Melinda Pavey, announced the Government's commitment to fund the Kempsey and Urunga highway signs.
The announcement was made prior to the March elections.
The signs for Macksville, Holbrook and Berry were installed as part of the 12-month pilot to decide whether the funding decision was a success in the post-bypass world.
In February 2019, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) sent letters to local councils eligible for signage, confirming the announcement, explaining the process and identifying contact details.
Kempsey, Urunga and a number of other towns were prioritised in August last year based on previous commitments under the Location Marker program.
At the time, TfNSW said all imagery had been agreed upon and photography is either under way or completed.
However, the signs for Kempsey and Urunga have not appeared.
When asked for an update on the project, Kempsey Shire Council said the RMS haven't committed to a timeline for the delivery and the assessment by the RMS is being finalised.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the plan is to have the signs installed sometime this year.
"Transport for NSW is working with Kempsey Shire Council to develop the bypass town signs for installation later this year, weather permitting," the spokesperson said.
