The 14s grand final was a blockbuster derby between Smithtown Tigers and Kempsey with both sides defeating each other once throughout the regular rounds.

Smithtown had won against Bowraville 26-16 in their semi-final whilst Kempsey annihilated Woolgoolga 60-6.

Dragons president Reuben Jones said the game was a tight contest up until the final minutes.

"It was a pretty close game, Kempsey were up 10-0 and then with 15 minutes left Smithtown scored to make it 10-6," he told the Argus.

"The boys then clicked into gear after that try and scored twice and put the game out of reach."

Jones was ecstatic to see his clubs 14s side win three grand finals in a row after their stellar effort all season.

"I'm really proud of the boys, they turn up to training every week and put in a full effort," he said.

"There's a lot of talent in that squad and the coaches have done an outstanding job."

The final score read 20-6 in favour of the Dragons with Joe Bull scoring twice whilst Nate Robertson and Richarn Davis were the other try-scorers.

In other junior rugby league action, the Dragons went down 18-6 to Coffs Comets in the 16s league tag grand final.

Coffs also defeated Smithtown 26-14 in 15s.
