Golf is certainly a game that provides any amount of exercise and of course - just like any other sport - fitness does play a vital role in that path to success.

To be sure (so some say) it was the Kempsey Veterans Golf Club paying heed to the rulings of the NSW Veterans Golf Association when the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Whilst exercise was the word that really did sort of save our game way back then, there were some basic requirements set down, too.
More stringent rules do apply now, such as groups of only two and not the four players as prior and just the driver and no passenger in the golf carts.
Littler things like marking your own card, leaving the pin in green-wise, staying well apart where and when and no fraternising on completion of round.
The decision to go ahead with last Tuesday's game was actually made 24 hours beforehand following a meeting with the KGC's CEO, Mike Richards.
And when numbers were down early , but gradually increased as time went on, a 14-hole Stableford was to go ahead as set down, with the special Charlie Hermiston & Paul Fleming Memorial Shield Day put on hold.
At tee-off a field of 23 had assembled and officials made the decision to declare a competition fixture be staged and in the three grades as usual. There was a good mix throughout.
In A-grade it was Kevin Hopping once again leading the way with a 31-point round, whilst Robert Dykes and Russell Graham were the respective B and C-grade winners with 30 points apiece.
In the ball competition Graeme Dyet led the way with 30 points and Terry Hyland, Graeme Irving, Mark Townsend, Greg Mayhew and Ray Moodie all figured with 29 points.
Nearest the pin at the Alan Macdonald Memorial $100 Third Hole-in-One were Hilton Barnett (B) and John Inder (C), whilst Robert Johnston (A) and Moodie (B) were winners at the eighth hole.
Phil Pinney's chip-in was a solo affair.
Cannot leave out the telling of the fact that being the last man standing or was it the odd man out (so to speak), but do spare a thought for the effort by Peter Hatton last week.
All alone he trailed the field throughout and he must have been somewhat apprehensive in traversing those fairways or surrounds, we'll say. A man to be trusted, Mr (Dr no) Hatton is an ordinary man these days and does deserve the No. 1 on the tee today. Oh yes!
It appears that we are still in lockdown and probably will be until spring is so lovingly sprung come September 1 and that is Wednesday of next week my friends.
All visitors whom qualify with all the Covid-19 rulings are invited to take part in today's 14-hole Stableford event and a phone call to the Club on 65626291 is suggested. Tee-off is 9am or a little earlier if possible.
