This fundraiser was held at Kempsey Heights Bowling Club which provided the venue free of charge, assisting with some cakes and tea and coffee. This all day event kept everyone who attended entertained with enjoyable country music by some well known local artists and accompanied by two vocalists.
Brenda’s husband Paul made a beautiful wishing well adorned with a teapot in which people could place their donations.
Additionally, there were some wonderful items raffled and auctioned supplied by many extremely generous local Kempsey businesses including Holiday Coast Credit Union; Millers; Milly Hill Meats who supplied a superb meat tray; Craig Lawson of Port Macquarie who donated two $50 vouchers; Woolworths’ wonderful cake complete with teapot and Coles which kindly supplied grocery items for Brenda’s daughter to make additional cakes.
Tank FM 103.1 supported the fundraiser broadcasting the whole event as it unfolded.
Brenda was keen to hold the fundraiser helping Cancer Council realise their cancer-free mission.
“With my father Arthur Ward having passed away three-years-ago from Lymph Node cancer and also many friends who have passed away from cancer, I was spurred on to hold this event,” Brenda said.
“Every minute, every hour, every day Cancer Council is working towards a day when cancer is a thing of the past,” stated Brittany Raven, Cancer Council Community Relations Coordinator.”
Fundraising events such as Brenda’s ABMT fund four areas within Cancer Council NSW; cancer research, cancer support and information services to help locals who are diagnosed with cancer and to help their families; cancer prevention campaigns to promote ways that we can prevent cancer, and advocacy to lobby governments so they can legislate to help prevent cancer.
If your school, work or business would like to hold a fundraiser for Cancer Council to help with their mission to defeat cancer, please do not hesitate to contact Brittany Raven on 6659-8402 or via email to Brittany.Raven@nswcc.org.au.
