Young Riley Gordon has a few of the older boys wishing he would stay a junior for a little longer given his enthusiasm and strike rate. During this competition, Riley caught the biggest Bream at 480 gm, but he also hooked onto and landed a very credible 11.760 kg Cobia to earn him largest other and inside Junior Angler of the Month. Just for the heck of it, Riley also went to sea which resulted in him catching the biggest Snapper for a junior at 2.160 kg.
Jack Riach, another junior verging on senior, also a very keen fisher, made his mark on the results sheet with a Pearl Perch, 860 gm, Venus Tusk Fish, 2.060 kg and outside Junior Angler of the Month with five species. Congratulations to both these young fellows.
Other juniors to rate a mention were Isla Morley who won with a Whiting of 260 gm along with “Tenunda” Savannah Kane, who has been making herself known over the last few competitions, this time with a 270 gm Whiting.
Now to the big kids. Sick of eating Yellow Belly and Murray Cod, the Duncan family made a trip from Narrabri, over the range and came to the shores of Trial Bay to participate in this month’s competition.
Tony Duncan caught biggest Bream for a senior at 510 gm, while Sandra Duncan caught the biggest Bream for a lady at 345 gm and Rhys Duncan won a 'Fish Lotto' prize.
Pat Halverson, a master fisherman, caught the biggest Whiting for a senior at 390 gm and Damien Ashley, another master fisherman, won inside Senior Angler of the Month with five species. Other winners included Bub Lyttle, Dusky Flathead, 1.435 kg; Cheryl Barber with a Dusky Flathead at 805 gm and Kristy Kane with a Whiting of 315 gm.
The Seabreeze Beach Hotel Fishing Club will have their next monthly competition March 2 and 3. Entry for seniors is $2 and juniors (under 15 years) is 50c.
